It's
a winner! The two and a half-minute film, made by Ellon-based independent film company Cinecosse, has been chosen for a Gold Camera Award by the US International Film and Video Festival, beating tough, world-wide competition. It was used by Sail Shetland to promote the isles at the annual International Sail Training Association conference in London last November Cinecosse senior partner Mike Marshall said he was ìabsolutely elatedî with the news that the film had been successful in the category for conference videos and meeting openers. He plans to attend the award ceremony in Chicago next month, where the Shetland film is to be screened. "The most important thing it proves is that in an international market-place it is quite possible for small, relatively low budget programmes to score, and score well," he said. "All credit to the team up there [in Shetland] who told me to go for it and gave me a free hand." Cinecosse is also to receive a second gold award for the concept and writing of a showreel film Welcome to the World of Cinecosse. Sail Shetland project manager Ruth Henderson said they were "thrilled" that the film, which was used in a joint presentation by the four race ports of St Malo, Greenock, Lerwick and Aalborg, had won such an important accolade. "It is an incredible achievement for a short film which was aimed at showing potential race participants what to expect when they get here in August," she said. "It will give the event here a tremendous publicity boost. It feels a bit like winning the Oscars!" Cinecosse has made an award-winning film about
